Little Bear sits beside the River Shalmoar, the sun is risen and his belly rumbles with sudden hunger. Just across the river in the branches of a sycamore tree Little Bear sees a bee hive.
He looks warily about him, Solemn Owl always tells him not to go across the River. On the other side is the home of the humans. But Little Bears' stomach rumbles all the more and he is most certain that he must get some honey.
Little Bear rushes into the water and begins to swim to the other side. Although he is only young he is a very good swimmer, after all, he was taught by the Otters.

Night falls over the forest, Solemn Owl awakens from his slumber. Bear also awakens, he has gotten used to the Owl's strange sleeping patterns.
Although he doesn't go with him on his midnight hunt, Little Bear likes to watch Solemn Owl soar above the trees in the moonlight.
Little Bear pads over to the sparkling stream and cups the water in his paws, he drinks it down and looks up. He doesn't move. Only stares. In front of him, standing bold as day is a human child.
Her hair is dark and long, it hangs past her waist straight and sleek. Her face is round, big brown eyes light

Silence falls over the marshlands, the Ogre quietly weeps, large tears roll down the cheeks of the Southern Giant, the stag hangs his head. A tiny mound of earth lies before them.
Solemn Owl flies down from his perch in the Tall Oak and twitters softly,
"We are gathered here today to mourn the loss of our good friend..."
Little Bear looks at the mound with wide tear-filled eyes. He wants to be strong, he doesn't want to cry too.
"...For a night and a day he fluttered high, far longer than most of his kind..."
Elder Deer nuzzles the stag comforting
